Located at the northernmost point of the island. Constructed during the Italian occupation of the Dodecanese Islands from 1934 to 1935, and began operating in 1937. First, as a research unit but after the union with Greece, then worked as Greek Hydrobiological Institute. Later, in 1963, he began working as Aquarium - Museum and is a model research unit in the Mediterranean.
So aside from the operation as a research unit, the Aquarium is also a showroom. In the basement you will discover the beauty of the aquatic world, as there are special tanks where you can see anthozoa, molluscs, gastropods, crabs, sea urchins, cephalopods and turtles in a charming stone-built environment. On the ground floor you will find even tachirefmena and marine mammals, large fish, shells, corals, and oceanographic instruments.
The Aquarium of Rhodes is open daily from April 1 Oct. 31: 9:00 to 20:30 and from November 1 to March 31: 9:00 to 16:30
